This site contains an interface to over 32,000 15-min recordings made in 2008 at 7 sites in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. Each 15-min recording was analyzed for the amount of acoustic diversity and as well as the composition of acoustic frequencies. Recordings started at the top of every hour. The recordings were stored originally as wav files in 44.1 kHz, 16 bit format. Files were compressed to FLAC for long term storage and to MP3 for listening over the web.
You can query up to 10 recordings at a time. Each query will produce a (1) interactive spectrogram and (2) associated data (location, date, time, acoustic diversity index). Users that need instructions on how to work the interactive spectrogram should click here.
We also took series of on-the-ground photos in cardinal directions from the recorder. The photos help provide snapshots illustrating the phenology of vegetation over time.
You can also plot the acoustic diversity value for any site and any date here.
A map of the locations of our recording sites (using GoogleMaps) is provided here. A KMZ file is also available for viewing in Google Earth or another desktop mapping application.
